Today, around the US, we celebrate Love Your Melon Day. This day represents so much, on so many different levels. Bravery, strength, hardship, faith, family, and health. It stands for those young and old fighting the super battle of cancer, for those enduring strenuous treatments, and ALL of our loved ones affected by Cancer. Pretty important day for the LYM community as they donate over 5,000 hats for the kids all over the US fighting the super battle in this world. For my dear friend Tara who I miss more than words and also for my Dad and our family as he is continuously fighting to kick cancers butt. They are definitely my superheros, and always will be. //

Almost two years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiform (Brain Cancer). He has undergone various treatments and was thankfully part of a successful clinical trial in the last year or so. Although his battle still remains he is stable today, and lives each day as he has always wanted, by traveling, being outdoors, and spending special moments with family and friends.  While these days can seem to be stressful, uneasy and extremely nerve wracking, I feel confident in his strength and health, the strength of the community around us and the outpouring of love from foundations like Love Your Melon, that help families like ours and kids all over the world. Just another reason to smile and know that everyone is loved and supported in some way. Thank YOU ALL for all that you do. //

Three years ago today, Love Your Melon began an adventure of a lifetime. Today we celebrate their third anniversary by giving back to the kiddos who need it most! // I am especially grateful to be celebrating this day because it has come close to my heart for many important reasons. Being involved with such a great community and photographing those who are willing to give back and honor the kids fighting the super battle, has been a pleasure and an honor and another fabulous reason to love what I do.
